> Colonial Era, Kensington Metro Park, Milford, MI. Colonial Kensington is our 11th annual historic encampment and reenactment that presents the Colonial years of the mid-1600's to 1796. The event is located within Kensington Metro Park, about 20 miles north of Ann Arbor, Michigan, between Milford and Brighton. This beautiful park setting along the Huron River offers participants unspoiled lake and river frontage for their encampment with mature forests, hills, streams and fields featuring a network of scenic trails. Each year features hundreds of historically dressed reenactors,
craft and trades persons, as well as historic Merchants where you may purchase
hand crafted items made like they were in the 18th century. Past events have featured several historic watercraft being launched
from our water front encampments including a 25-foot ship's boat with two
swivel guns. These historic craft are put to good use during several 'tactical'
exercises. Colonial Kensington and Kensington Metro Park offer a natural and
authentic setting for those interested in seeing the history of the 18th
Century. Our site offers unlimited space for all time periods and impressions;
British, French, Civilian and Native Camps. Modern Rest Rooms are nearby and do not encroach on the historic
setting that is being presented. Tactical
situations are offered early in the afternoons for the benefit of the
reenactors; brushing up on skills, tactical and military, as well as a separate
period demonstrations and activities for the benefit of the spectators/general
public thoughout both days.
